Our Mission

Encountering Christ in Scripture, Sacraments and Community

Everything we do flows from this mission. We gather around the Word of God, celebrate the sacraments with reverence and welcome, and build a community where people can meet Christ in one another.

Our Vision

Flourishing Community in Faith

We dream of a parish where faith is alive, relationships are strong, and every person feels seen, valued, and supported. A community that flourishes is one that prays, learns, serves, and celebrates together.

Our Values

Our values reflect both the Gospel and our Augustinian identity. They shape our ministries, our decisions, and the way we care for one another.

  • Compassion – We respond to the needs of others with kindness and mercy.

  • Friendship – We walk together as companions on the journey, united in heart and mind.

  • Witness – We share the Good News through our words, actions, and way of life.

  • Faith – We trust in God’s presence and seek to grow in understanding and love.

  • Service – We use our gifts for the good of others and the building up of the Church.

  • Celebration – We rejoice in God’s blessings and gather with gratitude around the table of the Lord.

These values express who we are and who we hope to become.

Our Parish Logo

Twenty years ago, the communities of St Kieran’s Church, Manly Vale and St Cecilia’s Church, Balgowlah were brought together to form one parish — the Catholic Community of North Harbour. Since then, our parish identity has been expressed through three separate logos: the Augustinian emblem and the individual logos of each church.

In 2024, the Parish Pastoral Council began the process of designing one unified parish logo — a symbol that reflects our synodal journey, our shared mission, and our life as one community worshipping in two churches. We proudly launched our new parish logo at Easter 2024.

This new logo expresses who we are today and who we are becoming: a welcoming community of faith where people encounter Christ in the Scriptures, in the Sacraments, and in one another. In the Jubilee Year 2025, it stands as a sign of our identity, our values, and our hopes for the future.

MEANING OF THE LOGO

The Cross

At the centre of the logo stands the cross, the sign of our Catholic identity and the heart of our faith. The cross gently pierces the heart, a visual echo of the Augustinian charism — Christ’s love shaping and transforming our community from within.

The Circular Ship’s Helm

Behind the cross is a circular ship’s helm, rich in meaning:

  • It recalls the Eucharist, the source and summit of our lives.

  • It symbolises our journey together as a parish community.

  • It reflects our commitment to justice, service, and navigating the future with hope and courage.

Together, these elements form a logo that is deeply Catholic, distinctly Augustinian, and unmistakably North Harbour — a symbol of who we are and the mission we share.

The Heart

The heart represents our unified, compassionate, life‑giving and welcoming community. It reflects our Augustinian spirituality, centred on friendship, interiority, and being “one mind and one heart on the way to God.” The blue tones evoke our home on Sydney’s beautiful Northern Beaches.
